Buyer’s guide for Rosin press

Nearly three years have passed since rosin was the first to launch to the cannabis concentrate world. Since then, this solvent-free concentrate processing has virtually changed the way we view cannabis. A rosin press machine only needs two things to perform well: pressure and heat. This process is also incredibly efficient over time. In some cases, it is possible to produce consumables in a few seconds.

Impressed? If you're here, you've probably heard a lot about the wonders of rosin technology. Before we begin, you must understand the materials to the press.

Press material: Flower, Hash, and Kief

Each variety you press produces different tastes, returns, and results. For this reason, some protocols produce fantastic rosin, while others are spectacularly short.

If you are looking for the best quality, you want to push the flowers. However, they will negotiate high quality for low returns. On the other hand, pressing hash or kief will give you excellent condition and satisfactory returns. We also recommend storing the product before proceeding with the pressing process (this includes the flower).

  • Trim: 3% - 8%

  • Shake: 8% - 15%

  • Flower: 15% - 30%

  • Kief/Dry sift: 30% - 60%

  • Bubble hash/hash: 30% - 70%

Get the right temperature

As mentioned above, the preparation of good rosin requires the ideal temperature. Typically, lower temperatures around 150°F to 220°F will produce rosin with more butter/honey texture, while temperatures above 220°F to 250°F will produce rosin with a lymph-like consistency. Honestly, you do not have to climb more than 300°F.

The best rosin press depends on your requirements

There are more rosin presses on the market than ever before and will likely continue to grow as the industry evolves. Of all presses, these are the most widespread: manual presses, self-compacting presses, pneumatic presses, hydraulic presses, hybrid presses, and electric presses.

How can you evaluate which rosin press to buy? It depends on your personal needs and your pressing needs. You should consider these questions before buying a cheap rosin press:

  • What are its uses?

  • How often is it used?

  • How much material do you print?

  • How much space do you have available?
